It's the old town, a narrow-ish strip of buildings along the west bank of the river Neretva. Simple western buildings and others dating back from the Turkish occupation coexist side by side and blend really well one with the other since a similar type of stone is used. Several minarets are also part of the local skyline. This part, possibly Mostar's most intriguing area, has luckily not been ruined too badly in the war. Buildings do show the scars of mortar fire like the rest of the city, but not many of them have been completely destroyed, and restoration is underway.
