I chose to walk the trail with an organized group (SAS Travel). I think it was a wise choice, as our guide had a wealth of information to share with us about the Inca people and the ruins that we passed along the way. I also chose to hire a porter to carry my backpack, so that I would be able to better enjoy the scenery and just carry my camera and daypack. Me and another traveller actually shared one porter, so it was very inexpensive, well worth it, I think. I was, afterall, on vacation!

Our tents were set up and taken down by the porters and our meals were prepared for us as well. You can organize your tour from Cuzco.
