Built in the 1970s and the longest suspension bridge in the world at that time, the Verrazano Narrows remains New York City's most ambitious linkage, spanning the Verrazano Narrows from Long Island (Brooklyn) to Staten Island, a stretch of almost three miles. Along with its length comes a corresponding toll, but to the north, those who are prepared with a camera can capture a one-of-a-kind snapshot of the Statue of Liberty and lower Manhattan.
