  The cathedral in Luebeck
by sim1

I always love to visit churches during my travels, so that's what I did in Luebeck as well. The first visit I made was to the Dom. The Romanesque Cathedral is probably Luebeck's oldest architectural monument. They started building the cathedral in 1173, but a wooden church had been built on the same location before.
Unfortunately the cathedral suffered severe destruction during the air raids in 1942. It took until 1960 before they started reconstructing the cathedral again (after St.Mary's church was rebuilt).
