"Largest bell in the world!" Kremlin Tip by Sharrie

Kremlin, Moscow: 230 reviews and 425 photos

Weighing over 200 tonnes, this bell was commissioned by Tsar Alexis.

Imagine a bell of such weight falling from the bell tower! Dramatic, eh? Well, there was a fire back then in 1701 & the original bell was shattered. Those fragments were then used to cast a new bell. While it was still in the casting pit, Kremlin was on fire again! Not sure who, but someone poured cold water over the burning bell & a huge piece of it fell off! Hence, its current shape.
