"Pylon Lookout" Harbour Bridge Tip by dracko

Harbour Bridge, Sydney: 209 reviews and 340 photos

For one of the best views in the city, you need to get to the top of the Pylon Lookout, located in the South-Eastern Pylon of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. For only A$8.30/adult (much less for children), you get to climb your way up the ~200 steps to the top of the pylon, where an observation platform is located. At this point you are about half way up the bridge's height, and the panoramic views of Sydney and the harbour are priceless. It is totally worth the money and should definitely be at the top of your to-do list in Sydney.

If you are considering doing the Bridge Climb, you may want to skip that and just go to the lookout instead. You're at least half as high, if not more, things look almost as small, you can actually bring your camera with you (something you can't do on the Bridge Climb) and take as many photos as you like, and it costs over 20 times less. Inside the pylon and throughout the climb, there are also several displays about the history of the bridge and its construction, as well as the history of the pylon itself.

Directions: To get to the lookout, head North along the Eastern pedestrian pathway from the City. The entrance is in the side of the pylon.
