"The San Marco?s Column" Piazza San Marco Tip by aliante1981

You can quickly tell that the Saint is, in fact, Saint Marco, because he?s always depicted with the lion. But, in this case, there?s just the lion :)) Which became, by the way, the true symbol of Venice.
In more ancient times this column signposted the principal entrance into the city of Venice. Which can be guessed, because it stands right next to the ?Molo of S. Marco?, or the principal landing spot.
The column has only one drawback ? it?s very tricky to photograph. Due to its height, it is quite difficult to get a good view of the lion:)))
