Denton Things to Do: 30 reviews and 45 photos

TWU first started off as a Girl's Industrial College back in 1902 but has now become the largest womens university in the United States. There are around 10,000 students enrolled here. Today the two universities make up half of the town's population

Old Main was the first building on the campus when it opened in 1903 and was once the centre of the whole university. The Greek Revival styled building took 8 months to construct and original equipment that was purchased included churns, ironing boards, typewriters, a scroll saw and a piano, among other items. All the early TWU activities used to take place in this building. There is a Winged Victory in the portico which is a replica of the original Nike of Samothrace in the Louvre in Paris.
