This was the last lot to be sold on the downtown square in 1857 and was the site from where the Great Fire of 1860 originated. After being reduced to ashes, a new building was built in 1880 as one of the first brick buildings in Denton and housed a dry goods store. Since then there have been several businesses located here. Two building sitting side by side were joined in the 1920's to represent one building. In 1994 another fire announced the fate of both buildings. This new building was designed to represent the architecture of those times.
