  The Dominican Church
by gosiaPL

The church was founded in 1250 and soon became known as the sanctuary of St. Jacek - his tomb is in the church. Today's look of the temple is owed to the restoration after the fire in 1850.

I really like this church! The grand vaults, the side altars, the wonderful tombs of Krakow's magnates - these all create the unique beauty of this temple. And still, there is some simplicity in the church's decor that I find so characteristics of Dominican churches in Poland.

And check the church's magnificent facade... I'm so glad it's been cleaned of pollution sediment. Before that it was literally black!

Address: 12 Stolarska St.
Directions: Exit the market square into Grodzka St. At the first bigger crossroads you will see the church on your left.
