  Bahla pottery oven

Bahla is not only known because of the huge mud fort, but also because of the potteries. Once the pottery from Bahla was very famous and sold everywhere in the country. Nowadays plastic and aluminium are more popular.
In Bahla are still some pottery workshops along a unpaved road in the oasis. The government support these workshops trying to preserve the old skills.
The clay for the pots comes from the wadi nearby and is first softened with the feet before it is worked on with the potters wheel.
Along the road we saw some pottery ovens.

Directions: Northeast of the new souq in Bahla.
