The Phoenician is an oasis in this desert city. The earth toned buildings of this sprawling complex blend in nicely beneath the contours of Camelback Mountain while the lush and perfectly manicured lawns and, I'm told, world class golf courses, provide an explosion of greenery in a landscape where such color is scarce. Every aspect of the property oozes luxury. This is one place that has earned a 5 star rating.

I received a free room through a hotel rewards program, so I can't complain about the price. The place is high class all the way. It also has one of the city's best restaurants, unbelievable architecture and the friendliest and most helpful staff you can imagine. The last part is what really takes this place up to high ranking caliber as these people are down to earth yet professional at the same time. There's no highbrow atmosphere or stuffy personas among the lot, as far as I could tell.

The rooms are amazing with huge marble bathrooms, balconies and great big comfortable beds. The spa products provided in the bathrooms were a nice touch as well.

Unique Qualities: The place is gorgeous. Take a walk around the property and look at the Disney-esque manicured lawn, admire the sculptures and marble floors in the interior and definitely, definitely, if you've got some extra bling, check out the spa.
