I liked Mombasa: it's really alive. It's three cities in one: the old town, with Fort Jesusm the Makupa market and its dozens of temple and mosques - and the new town, all grey and messy, with its famous tusks' monument. Within the old town there's the unofficial fourth city, with some old Portuguese and Omani houses. What about the third city? The third "mombasa" is the green mombasa: the mangroves and baobab and palm trees that dot the city - especially down by the seafront.
