  Government Billboard
by tampa_shawn

Vietnam is still a communist country and if you look you will see evidence of this everywhere. The Government of Vietnam posts bill boards everywhere giving messages to its citizens. Some of the bill boards just say to be a good citizen, where others talk about family commitment, getting regular immunizations for children or warn about AIDs.

They also broadcast messages throughout the day on speakers situated throughout the towns and community. Sometimes its Vietnamese music other times its talking. I was told by one guide it was often News and Educational information, similar to National Public Radio (NPR).

The first time I heard the overhead speakers broadcasting messages I was walking in the old quarter in Hanoi. The messages overhead, combined with the brightly colored shops, the narrow streets, the crush of bodies, the constant buzz and honking horns from the motorbikes and the smell of exotic spices, motorbike exhaust and the fermented fish sauce that is a favorite in Vietnamese cooking?? all blended together into an amazing experience?.so different from my life in America.

I took a picture of a wide variety of the billboards see the link below for them
