SNCF is the French Railway service, it is great and not so hard to learn about it and to have tickets, informations, even by Internet,
but some points which could really help a first time user of the French Railways:
1-Some trips and destinations are by TGV always, and some by normal trains, it depends on the direction and city
2-Never forget to composte your Ticket before getting on the Train, as it could coast you a hard Tax of 40 Euro, almost a Price of a one way Trip
3-Never think of Discounts if you are older than 25 Years Old
4-If you want to buy a year ticket of discounts, it is good but you will be forced to travel only in Saturday nights and get back in the Sunday morning!
so please take notice, and Happy Traveling in France!
