Lassen Pk trail; top and crater
by mtncorg

The Park Road goes through an area on the northeast side of the peak known as the Devastated Area, a small area for those familiar with the vast blown out areas to the north of Mt St Helens. Farther south, the road - closed in the winter - crest out at 8512 feet/2579 meters. Just beyond, a trail takes off from the road gaining the 10457 foot/3169 meter peak in about 2.5 miles. The crater atop is a smaller version of bigger cousins lying atop craters to the north.
