The Mount St. Peter Caves is a very interestig place to visit. It is located just a bi south of Maastricht. The Mount is 120m. high was resulted from the erosion of the valleys of the river Maas and Jeker. Well since it has created itself long long time ago (80,000,000 years) you can assume that it is actually formed from remains of shelfish etc.
The caves have a very long and interesting history, it was a very important place during the WWII. People were coming and building the caves until the beginning of last century. Now you can actully make your way to Belgium through the caves, which I don't suggest, you'll never find your way out. :) All the tours are guided "of course" and there are no same routes. The guides are showing different parts every time. A lot of art works can be seen inside, and many interesting stories will be told by the guides.
