"Route taxis (the little minivans)" Top 5 Page for this destination Simferopol Transportation Tip by polrbear

Simferopol Transportation: 14 reviews and 15 photos

Marshrutnye taxi, or "route taxis", are the little minivans you see speeding around town. Although you can signal for them to pick you up almost anywhere, I would suggest getting on and getting off at the major squares throughout town. Each one should have a piece of paper in the window with a route number and a list of major stopping points along its route. The fare should be 50-75 kopecks (10 or 15 cents, currently) and you pay the driver. If you're seated next to the driver, it's not uncommon for other people to hand you money to give to the driver and also the change back. When it's your time to get off, just tell the driver "ostanovka" (ah-stan-ohf-ka) and he'll pull over.
