Please remember to remove your shoes when entering temples or pagodas.

If you're invited into someone’s home you’ll most likely be expected to remove your shoes before entering

And since so many business and hotels also function as personnel residences removing your shoes here may be appreciated and/or expected (just check to see if there is a pile of shoes by the door or a special shoe rack )
