The ancient site of Carthage was located in what is today Tunisia. Carhage is located in the continent of Africa whert it is at one of its closest points to Europe (the island of Sicily). Due to its position, Carthage could control trade from the eastern to the western countries in Mediterranean.

Carthage was destroyed by the Romans in 146 BC. What is left of it are only ruins. it is hard to believe that this used to be the most beautiful and the richest sea port of ancient times.

Directions: 15 km north of the capital Tunis, on the Gulf of Tunis.
