"SENTOSA - Fort Siloso" Fort Siloso Tip by Umea6

Fort Siloso, Singapore: 7 reviews and 10 photos

Fort Siloso was constructed by the British at the endo of 19th century. The fort was intended to protect Singapore harbour. But shortly before World War II, the British constructed quite a lot of large cannons on the island. The cannons pointed directly out to sea, into the direction of possible invasion by Japanese forces. Unfortunately for the British, the Japanese invaded Singapore from Malaysia, and the island's batteries became known as among the great follies of the Pacific Theater. Now the remains are a museum representing the sad moments of British collapse.
