  I loved Lanzarote's architecture

San Jose Castle use to be Lanzarote's defence against sea pirates many years ago.It is above Puerto de Naos harbour. It was once called The Hunger Fortress.I enjoyed going here as Ceasr done it up a few years back and i thought it was beautiful and eeerie at the same time.
To get into it you have to walk over a moat by a bridge. The castle was built around 1779.I think it is well worth seeing for its black interior and the views to the coast too.It is huge inside with big staircases and halls. The floors are made from black volcanic tiles and pebbles and walls are white. The ceilings are also black.
In 1976 Cesar Manrique restored the castle. He put a museum of Contemporary Art in it which holds abstract modern art.
He also made a restaurant with glass walls and a bar which has black napkins and black tables and beautiful classical music was playing in back ground.
I found the place abit spooky as it was so big and kind of eerie.Supose all that black made it that way ;-)
