View from the Gellert Hill and Citadel
by belgrade03

One can enjoy a breathtaking view of Buda castle and the city of Budapest from the Citadel on top of Gellert Hill. There are 2 famous spots at Gellert hill beside the Citadel, St. Bishop?s Memorial and the Liberation Monument. St. Bishop?s Memorial marks the place where bishop St. Gellert was martyred and rolled down the hill into the Danube in a barrel in 1046. Atop the Gellert Hill, 130 m above the Danube, the Liberation Monument occupies the most eye-catching spot in the city. The bronze female figure together with its pedestal reaches 40 m.
