Miscellaneous: Louis de Bernieres - Captain Corelli's Mandolin:
This book is situated on a Greek island. It's a beautiful book about a romance in the war and especially about the life on a Greek island in the forties. I don't like common lovestories, but this is really a beautiful book. I can recommend it to everyone.

Futhermore I can recommend all the books written in the ancient Greece. Read a book with the collected mythology. Or read one of the tragedies of Aeschylos, Sophocles or Euripides (I recommend Antigone of Sophocles, or Oedipous Rex). You could also try Plato or Aristotle, though it may be 'hard work'. I read the Replubic and it's really illuminating. And of course you could read Homer. Iliad and the Odyssee will never loose their attraction.
