The Camel is one animal perfectly adapeted for our climate here. You will find them all over the desert areas of Israel and especially here in the area between Arad, Beer-Sheva and Dimona. A large area that is heavily settled by the Bedouin tribes. You can also see in the picture the type of terrain they have to travel over, it gives a pretty good idea of the plant life in the desert. This picture was taken shortly after some rainfall so all of a sudden the desert "blooms" and has some very small shrubs and plants that the camels, goats and sheep manage to survive with. Today because of enormous population growth in the Bedouin tribes and subsequest growth in flocks of camels, sheep and goats, there is no longer enough food to support them, so fodder is brought in from the north.
