Mesquite Things to Do: 26 reviews and 45 photos

The earliest known burial was in 1863 of Penelope Motley McLain a daughter and wife of Capt J.B. McLain. There are twenty five known graves which include family members of Motley and their slaves.

The Motley?s were one of the founding families of Mesquite, they owned thousands of acres in east Dallas county. Their old homestead on this land burned to the ground and the land was sold to Dallas County for their use for the construction of Eastfield Community College. The Motley descendants still maintain this cemetery.

Address: Z Motley Cemetery, 3737 Motley Drive, Mesquite
