"Location not great, but price was" Riviera Hotel And Casino Tip by catchpm
Riviera Hotel And Casino, Las Vegas: 19 reviews and 14 photos
I really wanted to stay in the MGM, Luxor or something plush, but as it was a flying one night visit to Vegas, my head ruled and said that it would be a total waste to pay out for one of them, so the Riviera it was. Room price was great at $75 per room.
Not impressed with the hotel though. Arrived at 7pm (ish) after flying in and being in a rush to get out, and had to queue for an HOUR to check in (I queued less at the airport to get there). They had 1 position open for check in (and 3 for check out ironically enough) and only opened more right at the end of my queuing. Staff were abrupt and seemed not to care.
Rooms and corridors were very tired looking but average 2 double beds and bathroom. Usual Cable TV and air conditioning which took AGES to get temperature down below 80F - it was unbearable at first. Had a nice view over the pool. Hotel is very big (and is quite small compared to some!) so long walks to some rooms should be expected.
Location was quite poor - see below for more detail.
Would recommend for somewhere adequate (very 3* and only just that) to dump bags and get out (if you don't mind a walk or have transport). If you are looking for an extravagant Vegas night, pay a little more and treat yourself to one of the plush hotels on the strip.
Address: 2901 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV 89109
Price Comparison: less expensive than average
Directions: It's on the strip if we are getting technical, but the strip is long and most of the action is the opposite end. The only good thing is that it's close to the Stratosphere. It took about an hour to walk to the MGM. I'd recommend somewhere more central.
