The two walls along each side of the courtyard contain five doorways opening into small rooms. All these rooms have two floors, the upper one receiving daylight through arched windows, but it is not clear what these rooms were used for. The presence of brick daises on the floors of some of the rooms has led authors to claim that they were set aside for the women of the palace, maybe the wives of the rulers. Nevertheless, functionaries at this time also used to work sitting on such daises and they may equally have been used for administrative purposes.

In the picture you can see a few of the doors and upper windows on both the right and the left side of the picture towards the end of the pool.
