We enjoyed to stay at the central square with the fountain for some time. The square was a meeting point for the local people. At the square we saw a lot of playing schoolchildren with their teacher.
North of the central square are the barracks built by Fakhr ad-Din for his troops and horses. Next to the barracks is the old silk khan and the Palace of Emir Yunis Ma'an, originating from 1590. The first time the barracks and palace were destroyed was in 1614 by Yusef, Pasha of Tripoli. Then the buildings were rebuilt and restored again by the emir Fakhr ad-Din.
