"Opera at Arena di Verona" Arena Tip by shellybelly567
Arena, Verona: 115 reviews and 192 photos
Arena di Verona was built in the First Century A.D. during the reign of Augustus. It is the third largest coliseum in Europe.
Summertime is Festival Season in Verona, which means, that any night of the week, you can see an opera staged right there in the Arena. We saw Verdi's &iNabucco and were not disappointed. The sets were creative and the costumes as over the top as you would expect.
If you go to an opera, do be prepared for a late night. The very earliest they start is 9pm, which means you won't be out of there until at least 1am. Also, it is an ancient Roamn construction-that means lots of stone, so I would suggest either bring something to sit on or fork out the 5 Euros for a little seat back rest thingy.
