"A little piece of Thailand" Arab Street Tip by phil_uk_net

Golden Mile Complex - Little Thailand

Fondest memory: One of the things I love about Singapore are the little pockets of ethnicity that you find around the island. With 77% of the population of Chinese descent there are obviously lots of Chinese areas and I don't just mean Chinatown, which is probably the least authentic. Little India and Arab Street are well known but there are more. Take a stroll around the upper levels of Lucky Plaza and it is like being in the Philippines (without the shotguns). Cuppage Plaza is like a small piece of Japan and the Golden Mile Complex is like being in Thailand. The shops inside sell Thai produce and the smells and sounds are definitely reminiscent of being in Thailand. Along the outside of Golden Mile are a string of travel agents and it is a good place to make travel arrangements from Singapore, especially up into Malaysia.
