Krakow is the old capital of Poland and it's a city full of charm. The historical centre is compact but there's so much to see that one should really spend a few days here. Right in the middle of the main square there's a delighful town hall and a covered-market selling in particular amber jewellery. There's countless interesting churches and museums - as well as old beautiful (if somewhat grey-ish) buildings. The real jewel, however, is the Wawel: an imposing castle cum cathedral set scenically on top of a hill overlooking the river: this is where the Polish kings used to reside

Address: Krakow
Directions: all over the old town
