If your limited on time in Miami, there is NO need to drive all the way to Key West. The Florida Keys start at Key Largo and run to Key West. About 1 1/2 hour drive from Miami is Islamorada ( mile marker 84). Escape from the Miami traffic, crowds and glitz and just kick back with a rum runner or cold Kalik Bahamian beer at one of the waterfront bars. No dress codes- no scene..just fresh seafood, cocktails and Fla. Keys sunsets. You can parasail, jetski and snorkel. Islamorada is world famous for its fishing-many come from all over just for this. Charter boats will take you out for an afternoon of deep sea fishing! Or a sunset sail on a private boat. For sunset , head to the Lorelei , where all the locals kick back to watch the sunset. Then off to dinner ( my favorite , the Islamorada Fish Company). Late evenings head over to the Holiday Isle Tiki Bar - famous for their parties and rum runners! You can close the place down!
