Philadelphia's answer to San Francisco's Alcatraz.

The world's first true "Penitentiary", the prison was opened in 1829. And after 142 years of 'hosting' various criminals (including Al Capone), the Penitentiary was finally abandoned.

Tours are conducted from 10am to 5pm. Last entry: 4pm. $9 Adult/$7 Students & Seniors, $4 Kids.

Address: 22nd Street and Fairmount Ave.
Directions: 5 blocks away from the Art Museum. This is a nice sidetrip from the Museum visit.
