For less than US$10 a night, this is the kind of architecture you might find in your hostel/hotel. This is the ceiling in the hallway of my hotel, can't remember the name.
In the old cities, except for the large chain hotels, most accommodations are old converted and small palaces, which can make them very interesting architecturally.
