Situated at one end of the Champs Elysees, this is a wonderful place to visit, and easy to locate. I was amazed at how big it looked from the Eiffel Tower but upclose, it was bigger and better!! The architecural work on it is just amazing...
You have to use an underground passage to access the island in the middle of the roundabout...please do not even consider trying to cross above ground. You will also be able to buy your tickets from a booth in the underground passage thingy...
Most people have to take the stairs (all 200 and something of them) to the top, though there is a lift/elevator service that I'm sure you can use if you ask nicely...but this wasn't working when I went...
Opinion: I would definately go up the arc de triomphe...but if I had to choose between this and the eiffel tower, I would have to say the eiffel tower. Either way, make sure you see the arc de triomphe, then you can walk on the champs elysees and shop! Or window shop if you're like me :)
Little fact: The Arc de triomphe, the arc at the Louvre (do not know the name yet...sorry) and la grande arche de la defense, form a straight line. So, if I stood at la grande arche de la defense, and had super vision, I would be able to see the arc de triomphe, and then after that, the arc at the Louvre...so this was great to see when I was on top of the arc de triomphe...the view here is pretty good...you get to see the eiffel tower too from a high distance!
For an adult, I believe it costs 5 euros, but I will have to recheck this!
