  the church and bell-tower

Rocca San Giovanni is a really tiny village (pop about 2700)surrounded by remains of some ancient fortified walls. The name means rock of Saint John. Rock because it's perched on top of a cliff and Saint John (Giovanni) because the village used to belong to the Abbey o San Giovanni in Venere in Fossacesia. There's not many points of interest, but it's a charming laid back place. When you reach the main square (which looks dangerously like a parking lot) take a look at the splendid church and bell-tower

Address: Rocca San Giovanni
Directions: In South Eastern Abruzzo. ^By car along the A14 motorway, exit Lanciano - or else by the S.S. 16 Adriatica
