  Loreto sanctuary
by ayesh

In Czech simply known as 'Loreta'. It was built in 1626; the cloisters were added 35 years later and finally the baroque facade made the sanctuary as it is. It has since the beginning of its existence alway been a place of pilgrimage. In the centre court a roman house is made, which is said to be a replica of the house that once was Maria's. On the first floor you will find an exposition of juwels, art and sparkling monstrances. One of them is the ultimate, gilded monstrance since it has many diamonds.

Address: Loreta, Loretanske namesti 7.
Directions: Castle Hill (Hradcany), 5min west from Prague Castle.
