Orvieto is very easy to reach by highway from Rome (about 1:30 hours, 120 km) or by train. A lovely town with many places of interest.

The magnificent gothic Cathedral
One of the most important gothic churches in Italy (XIV century). Inside there are beautiful frescos, like the "Giudizio Universale" by Luca Signorelli.

St. Patrick's well (in the picture)
the Pozzo di San Patrizio (S.Patrick's well) built between 1527 and 1537 for the water supply of the city. It's 62 m. deep and it has 248 steps to reach the bottom. Entry fee 3,10 euro.

Torre del Moro
You can have a wonderful view of the town from the top of this tower. Entry fee 2,60 euro.

Piazza del Duomo
The beautiful square (Piazza del Duomo) in front of the Cathedral, and the tower called Torre di Maurizio.

Piazza della Repubblica
Walking through Corso Cavour... you can arrive to a beautiful square, Piazza della Repubblica.
Here are the Municipal Palace (Palazzo Comunale XIII cent.) and the important church of S.Andrea (XII cent.), built on an ancient etruschian temple.
