Wawel Hill - the seat of Polish Kings for over 500 years. It's a vast complex of castle, adjoining buildings and cathedral about 10 minutes walk from the Rynek. Guidebooks claim it's the most visited sight in Poland, and I do not fail to see why. So much history is crammed on that hill. Som of this history can be witnessed in the castle's 5 museums: the state apartments, the private apartments, the oriental art museum, the lost wawel, the armour museum. Thinking back now the only two worthwhile ones are the last two of the above list. For all museums you need separate entry tickets.

Address: wawel hill
Directions: in the old town, by the river
