Favorite Dish: This isn't about a resturant. It's about the food and one food specifically...the guinea pig. Yes, that cute fluffy little creature that we have as pets in the U.S. is a food item in Peru.

How it is eaten depends on where you go. If you eat at one of Peru's finer resturants as my friends and I did for our dinner, it was as an appetizer. It came spiced and delicious. If you didn't think about that cute little pet you used to have when you were a kid, it was really qute scrumptious.

The second time I had guinea pig was at the home of a local farmer (see picture). It was presented as a main course for lunch. No spices, no fancy arrangement on the plate..just cut up guinea pig. It wasn't quite as tasty the second time.
