Checkpoint Charlie was the most famous checkpoint when Berlin was still divided. It was only for diplomats and foreigners, Germans were not allowed to cross the border here.

After the wall came down the actual checkpoint disappeared quickly. A little checkpoint hut was brought back here though - to give the tourists the special cold war thrill I guess. It looks a bit like Disneyland to me though....
