"Hagia Sophia : wisdom from christianism to islam" Hagia Sophia - Ayia Sofia - Ayasofya Tip by ptitetoile

It used to be a basilica (Construction is started in 532) ,and became a mosque after the conquer of Istanbul and is now a museum where you can see, beside the very nice inside architecture, very nice mosaics.
Oldest mosaics are the mosaics with geometric and plant motifs which have golden silvering at internal nartexes and side places. Figured mosaics are constructed between IXth and XIIth centuries. These can be seen on Emperor's gate, apses, exit gate and upper floor gallery.
There are also a good short explanation of the meaning of the different parts of the building for the islamic religion.
