You must try the 'Elevador the Santa Justa'.
In hilly Lisboa, you will need a lot of help from elevators and trams.

It opened in 1902 and rises vertically some 45 metres from the Rua de Santa Justa in the Baixa area of central Lisbon to the Chiado district. The structure was designed by Raoul Mesnier du Ponsard, from Oporto.

You will not only enjoy the view but the ride also!If you have the 'Elevator de Santa Justa' exactly in front of you, it seems that it takes you nowhere, except up. I'll not tell you where it takes you!! Go find out.

At the foot of the elevator is a Carris office selling passes and route maps and timetables.

Address: Near 'Praca do Rossio' in Rua de Santa Justa
Directions: If you are in 'Praca do Rossio' there is no way you can't see it!
