They number around 20,000. Their traditional home-land is the frontier zone of Panamá and Pacific coast. They live in the Darién province, disseminated over 16,000 square kilometers in small isolated hamlets, often consisting of several brothers and cousins. They grow agricultural products, especially plantains, their main source of income which they trade along the Darién rivers.
