I was very lucky to have been staying at the Residencial Tahai..
owned by Maria Hey Paoa
She is married to Mr Hotu from the tribe of that name who for years worked with the american archeologist Mulloy in his restoration projects.
The daughter FAtima one of the eight they have is married to Patricio Bellerino who without doubt is the best tourist guide who has such passion for his work. Another daughter Nau is married to the leading artist and the person who puts out the local news paper. They have friends and family all over the world..daughters studying dentistry at Vina del Mar,,,cousins married to chileans living on the mainland etc..
Very friendly people considering the island is full of very friendly people.
The ambience is very welcoming, the rooms are large and with attached bathrooms. Maria is one of the first people to think of the idea of residencial...
Unique Qualities: The Ambience of the gardens with flowers we normally associate with the pacific islands.
Patricio who is the best guide and has information more akin to an archeologist rather than a tour guide. he is very patient and is not watching the clock like other tourist guides.
