Favorite thing: Don't be confused if you order a drink and the waiter nods his head....it means YES in Bulgaria, and shaking the head means NO (see the picture).
Sometimes, specially in tourist areas, the locals are adjusting to western way and the confusion then is even greater!
To avoid it, try to learn Bulgarian words DA and NE (yes/no).
