"Silom Village" Top 5 Page for this destination Bangkok Tourist Trap Tip by syllybabe

We're not blaming anyone but our good friend Marili for this. Before we left home, we were mapping out our trip and making a list of all the restaurants and shopping haunts we needed to visit. Marili swore by Silom Village...great food...great shopping, according to her.

Okay here goes...
If it's your first time in Bangkok and you haven't sampled really good Thai food in really good restaurants, you won't have a problem with the food here. If you've got nothing to compare it with, food here would be typical Thai fare but nothing to write home about...except to complain about the price and the lousy service!

For 1,700baht for a dinner for 3 that took forever to get to our table because they get the food from different stalls around the village, we were so disappointed. You see, dinner at Lemongrass was only 1,600baht for 3 and we had more food, better service and the taste is always excellent.

Sorry to complain but Bangkok has great food everywhere...just not here.

Unique Suggestions: If you're already there, might as well wander around the village and check out the shops. I saw some good stuff but you have to bargain because the prices here are a bit higher for the same items you can find at some markets.

There is a short show featuring some Thai dances and they play some Thai music while you're having dinner. If you like that sort of thing, then maybe you won't think it's such a bad experience.
