by sachara

The Pharaonic Temple of Horus in Edfu is the largest temple in Egypt and very well preserved.
The temple is dedicated to Horus. At the entrance are two statues, in the forecourt one statue of Horus as a hawk. The walls of the temple are covered with reliefs.

The construction of the temple started in 237BC by Ptolemy III and was completed 180 years later in 57BC by Ptolemy IX.

For more pictures and information see travelogue Edfu and Komombo.
