The Singapore Art Museum is not the Met but it does have a nice Southeast Asian 20th-century art collection. And, on Tuesday and Thursday morning my wife is a docent who can show you around the 12 galleries and over 4,000 paintings, sculptures and other art objects. The building where the Singapore Art Museum is housed used to be a Catholic boys school which move to the suburbs.

Admission: $3.00

Address: 71 Bras Basah Road
Directions: located at the restored 19th-century old St Joseph's Institution (SJI) building on Bras Basah Road, SAM is easily accessible by public transport.

Hop on an MRT where SAM is approximately 10 minutes' walk from Dhoby Ghaut / City Hall MRT stations.
